Cloud Strife mind continue to swirl painfully around in his head as if he's floating, unable to move his body, nor can he speak. What's going to happen next? He thinks to himself. What am I doing? Wake up, Cloud, this is just a dream of your past! But before he can do anything to wake himself up, his vision begins to grow bright, feels his body rumble against something, and hears both the rumble sound and the music to his right. He tries to move his body, but he's unable to, so he opens both of his eyes, and then he saw a man in SOLDIER uniform sat to his right with his Buster Sword on his back. It's Zack when he recognizes both his hair and his cross scar on his left cheek. He's also wear a SOLDIER uniform and sat in the back of the old truck as well. He hears Zack shout to the driver behind him when he turns his head around, banging on it with his single hand.
"Hey, old man, are we at Midgar yet?"
"Shut up! We're not there yet. You're lucky I even give you a ride!" The driver shouts back to him.
Zack turns his head back, place his right arm on his knees, looks at him, and said.
"Hey, Cloud, you got any idea what kind of place we can live on? I know a place where we could 'crash' in for a while, but I'm kinda broke. So no matter what I do, I still need some money first."
He tries to reply back to him, but his mouth won't move at all as if he's paralyze. The reason he's is because he was infused with both the Jenova cells and the Mako energy by a mad scientist named Hojo after the incident of Nibelheim that held both him and Zack for 4 years. However, he barely remember how both him and Zack managed to escape though he does remember when he's taken to the Shinra manor, and how he got a SOLDIER 1st class uniform since he had a comatose. This is also Zack last moment with him.
"Say, let's start a business together you and me, but what could we do?" He turns his to the driver once more. "Hey, old man, do you know anything I'd be good at?"
"What're you saying? You need to try everything while you're young. Try something you're good at."
"Easier for you to say." He turns his head away from him once more, places his hand on his cheek. "Let's see, which stuff am I good at?"
Zack thinks slowly for a few second, and then he slams his fist on his palm. "I got it! I got a brain and skill that some people don't have! That does it! I'm going to become a mercenary! Thanks, old man!"
"W-wait, you got it all wrong!" He shouts back at him, yet he continues to say.
"Dangerous stuff, boring stuff, I can do that just fine!"
"Hey, aren't you listening to me?!" He shouts at him once more, but is ignore again.
Zack turns his head to him, and said.
"So, what are YOU going to do once we get to Midgar? Just kidding, there's no way I'm going to leave you like this, won't I?" He moves to the right at the edge of the truck beside him, and then he smile at him. "We're friends, right?"
He's still unable to speak. As the truck continues to head for Midgar, Zack stood his feet up above the roof.
"Hey, are we there yet? This piece of junk sure is…"
Before he can finish his line, Zack crouch down and grab him by his shoulder as he hears the sound of the gunshot whizzing over his head.
"Cloud, get down!"
He pulls him down on the floor, clenching on his chest by the other hand to prevent him from landing on his face.
"Dammit, they found us. Sorry, Cloud, Ride's over. Hey, old man, stop at the right side of the ridge!"
I forgot, the Shinra are after us, he thinks to himself. After their escape, the Shinra begins to mobilize the troops to pursue and recaptured them known as the "Sample" which both of them carries a Jenova Cells and the Mako energy though Zack was not infected by either of them for some reason. It also takes almost a year for both him and Zack to reached Midgar while in pursuit by them until now. The truck begins to steer to the right, stopping it beside the rocky ridge. Zack lifts him up as he stood his feet up and ready to get off the truck, placing his arm around his neck, moves toward the edge of the truck, jumps over it, carries him toward the rocky ridge, and then the Driver drives away.
He also saw several helicopters behind Zack when he hears the sound of the helicopter flying over, meaning that the Shinra Army has found them. It's too late to change it, and even Zack decide to remain in the truck will still be unavoidable or worse. With no alternative, Zack glares at him, smile his face, gives him a head scratch with his left hand, stood to his feet off the ground, and then walks away toward the ridge where the helicopter's continuously pouring down their troops on the ground. No…Zack, don't go, he's finally able to move when he tries to looks up and tries to stretch his arm for him, yet he's still unable to speak. He knows what's going to happen that he doesn't want to remember what exactly going to happen to Zack fate. This is where Zack's going to defend both him and himself no matter what the cost. This is also one of Cloud unforgiving sin because not only he lets Zack died for defending him even though he's been comatose, but due to the injection of both the Jenova cells which has a mimic ability and his trauma he experienced, he mix Zack and his past memories altogether and create his own persona completely that he claims to be a SOLDIER 1st class, and a partner of Sephiroth. His true self and his memories were not restored until he finally finds it when Tifa helps him search every pieces of his true in his subconscious. As he continues to glare at Zack walking towards a now massive Battalion size Shinra Troops with several Helicopters still hovering around which they aim their rifles at him, he no longer hears the sound, nor does he hear any wind blowing, and then he clearly hears Zack voice from distances when he stops to his feet with his both arm places on both side of his hip.
"Boy, oh boy, the price of the freedom is steep." He said calmly while shaking his head slowly. He slowly draws his Buster Sword from his back, place it on his head in both hands, and then he said. "Embrace your dream. And whatever happens, protect your honor…as SOLDIER!"  
He roars loudly as he swings his Buster Sword and charge directly at them. "Come and get it!"
The silence breaks out as the entire groups of Shinra Troops starts shooting at Zack, machine gun firing from both the Shinra Machine Gunner and the Helicopters. He saw Zack kills several or more Shinra Troops when he swing his Buster Sword on the ground, creating a single large blue beam wave striking towards them, causing it explode and killing every Shinra Troops including one of the Helicopters. He's also slices several more Shinra Troops after that even though he's taking several hits from them and is completely outnumber by a large groups of Shinra Troops, yet he's still continues to fight no matter how much risk he takes or worse his live. Several Shinra Troops, armed only with a Sword, attempt to charge at Zack from left and right while he's trying to block the endless rain of bullets with his Buster Sword, but he manages counter their attack, blocking their slash and slices them down though he's slice in the back from behind, and then the explosive burst out in front of him, causing him to be thrown off the ground and land hard on the ground. But Zack, though wounded, stand himself off the ground, raise his Buster Sword, jumps up high, and then attack them when he lands in front of them. No…Zack, he thinks to himself as he continues to watch Zack fighting off the hordes of Shinra Troops. He feels his heart ache with, knowing that the more he watch, the more sadness and guilty fills inside him, and then he went black out when his vision starts to go blur and his mind starts to weaken him.
The sky is now dark when he wakes up. He looks up, feels the pain in his head slowly fades away, saw a hundreds of or more bodies of Shinra Troops, scrap of remaining Helicopters and their weapons include guns and sword which some of them are broken, scatter across the ground as if there's been a huge massacre or worse. I can't believe it, did Zack do all this? He's also able to move his body completely, but his severe ache slows him down, so he lays himself on the ground, crawls forward, and then he's hears both the gun shot and a loud "Clang" came from the right. He crawls to the right, ignore the small pools of blood when he touches it, saw Zack who's severely wounded with a lot of blood flows around his body, barely standing near the cliff with his Buster Sword still in his hand when he's kills the last Shinra Troop, but before he could crawls towards him, he saw three more Shinra Troops including one Officer and two Regular Troops walking towards him, raise their Assault Rifle high, and then they fire in full burst at him in short range. No! He cries in his head as he watch Zack getting horribly shot, thrown off the ground, and then land hard, hearing his voice scream loudly. He's also shock that he drops his jaw wide a bit when he saw one Shinra Troops walks closer to him, cocks his Assault Rifle, aims down at him, and then shot him. However, as he turns around and joins the other two, Zack stood to his feet off the ground, kills him in the single swing in the back, and then limps toward the other two which they fires in full burst at him, but he ignores it. He kills another Shinra Troops, leaving only one Shinra Officer who's in complete panic, tries to run away when he's out of ammo, but is trip instead, causing him to fall down. Zack limps towards him with his Buster Sword grinding on the ground, tries to shoot at him with his handgun, and then he shriek loudly when he roars loudly, swings his Buster Sword at him, killing him. Zack… He thinks to himself as he saw Zack falls down near the cliff. The rain begins to drop heavily; he crawls towards him, passing through the bodies of Shinra Troops, feels his heart beating fast, ignores the drop of the rain pouring down on him, and then he finally reach Zack. He's complete shock when he glares at Zack who's now cover with bullet holes and cut, and he's still holding his Buster Sword in his right hand. He's also cover with blood over his face and his entire body that it flows on the ground, yet he's breathing slowly and he smile when he saw him. He stood up with his leg bent, said to him slowly as he feels his throat is sore hurting him.                       
"Z, Zack, hang on."
He's dying, how am I supposed to save him? He hears Zack replies to him slowly.
"For the…both of us."
"Both of us?" He's confused by a word he said.
"That's right, you're gonna…you're gonna…" He raise his left arm high, place it on the back of his head, and then he push his head down on his bloodied chest, feeling a blood paint on his right cheek. "Live."
He raises his head high away from him, feels his heart ache with sadness, and then Zack continues.
"You'll be…my living…legacy." He lifts his Buster Sword slowly, and then raises it high in front of him. "My honor…my dreams…they're yours now."
Without hesitate and question, he nod to him, raise his both hand slowly, grips the handle tightly, and then Zack let go of the handle and push it to him. He asks him in the final word.
"Cloud, do me a favor…If you see Aeris, would you say 'hi' for me and tell her that I became a hero?"
He nods to Zack as he close his eye slowly, and then seconds later, he stops breathing. He gasps when he knows that he's dead, looks up, and then said.
"No...no!!!"

He woke up at the cliff near the ruined Midgar, facing in front of the rusted Buster Sword. He feels dizziness in his head, stood his feet off the ground, wipes off the dust on his clothes, and then he thinks to himself. It's just a dream of my past though it's almost real to me. I still can't let go of my guilt that I don't even know if I ever be forgiven. He said to himself.
"I tried to let go, but…"
He's unable to find a right word to say until he hears a familiar voice said to him from behind.
"Hey, why the long face? Don't tell me you still have some trauma stuff in your head, right?"
It's Zack. He feels speechless when he's trying to reply to him.
"I just…"
"I know what you're trying to say, Cloud." He continued. "If there's something you wanted to be forgiven, you don't have to. Why are you're so let down after my death when I never actually blame you for that? Why not move on and leave the rest of your past behind?"
He still unable to say anything back to him, and then he hears Zack voice once more.
"Cloud, do you remember what I've told you before? Sure, you never made it to be SOLDIER before, but what's in here that counts."
"Yes, I remember, I am your living legacy." He finally replies to him.
He turns around, saw no one beside him, turns back, glares at the rusted Buster Sword, and then he thinks to himself. Maybe you're right, Zack, I should let go of it and move on. But there's still something I still can't. I better head back to the Church for some rest. The Church is a place locates in Sector 5 Slums. The reason he decide to go there is because this is where he and Aeris had met each other 2 years ago. He place his hand into his pocket, pulls out his black cell phone, flips the pad up, and then he saw a text that says, "Voice mail". He clicks the left button and listens to it when he places it by his right ear.
"Hi, Cloud, it's me, Tifa. How did it go so far? So when will you stop hiding yourself and come back home? I was worried sick. Call me back if you're able to. Bye."   
I better call her back now, he thinks to himself as he about to press a button to call her, but he closes the pad instead and puts it back into his pocket. Maybe I'll call her later. Before he go, he draws out his Main Sword from his large sheath behind, place it in front of his face, glares at the rusted Buster Sword, and then he close his eye. Embrace your dreams. And whatever happens, protect your SOLDIER honor, he thinks to himself as he remembers exactly what Zack said to him. After that, he puts away his Main Sword, turns around, walks toward his Fenrir Motorcycle, gets on, place his both hand on the both handle, starts the engine, and then droves away.
